LOCAL AND REGIONAL COUNCILLOR

LOCAL AND REGIONAL COUNCILLOR

My name is Mario Di Nardo, and Vaughan is my home. It is the community my wife and I chose to raise our daughter in, and it is the city where I have dedicated decades of service, leadership, and community involvement.
For more than 40 years, I have proudly called Vaughan home. During that time, I have been actively involved in our community through volunteerism and public service. I have served on a school parent council, represented residents as a Director of the Greater Woodbridge Ratepayers Association, and contributed to the City of Vaughan Property Standards Committee. These experiences have given me a firsthand understanding of the issues that matter most to residents and the importance of transparent, accountable leadership.
My education and diverse professional experience have provided me with a strong foundation in leadership, business, and public service. Having worked in real estate, insurance, marketing, and labor relations, I have gained valuable insight into the challenges facing both residents and businesses. As an Acting District Chairperson and Bargaining Representative for a union representing approximately 1,500 members, I negotiated collective agreements, resolved disputes, and advocated for fair and practical solutions. These experiences have helped me develop the skills necessary to solve problems, build consensus, and make informed decisions.
In addition to my business and community experience, I have spent many years advocating for working people through the labor movement. Representing a diverse membership taught me the importance of listening, understanding different perspectives, and finding common ground to achieve meaningful results. It also reinforced the principles of accountability, fiscal responsibility, and fair representation that are essential to effective leadership.
As Regional Councillor, I will bring a balanced and independent voice to both Vaughan City Council and York Region Council. I understand that effective government requires listening carefully, managing growth responsibly, protecting taxpayer dollars, and ensuring that infrastructure and services keep pace with the needs of our growing community.

FAIR PLAY & RESPONSIBLE GROWTH INITIATIVES
Vaughan is one of Canada's fastest-growing cities. Growth brings opportunity, but it must be managed responsibly. Residents deserve transparent government, safer communities, reduced traffic congestion, affordable living, and neighborhood's that maintain the quality of life that attracted families here in the first place.
As Regional Councillor, I will advocate for smart growth that strengthens our community, protects taxpayers, and ensures public infrastructure keeps pace with development.
Families and seniors are facing unprecedented financial pressures. Municipal government must focus on delivering value for every tax dollar spent.
I will work to:
✅ Control property tax increases
✅ Review municipal spending for efficiencies
✅ Eliminate waste and duplication
✅ Protect frontline services while maintaining fiscal responsibility
✅ Improve transparency in budgeting and procurement
Our residents should not be asked to pay more while receiving less.
Traffic congestion impacts every aspect of daily life, from family time to economic productivity.
I will advocate for:
✅ Accelerated road improvement projects
✅ Better traffic signal synchronization
✅ Improved regional transit connections
✅ Strategic infrastructure investments before growth occurs
✅ Coordination between Vaughan, York Region, and the Province
Residents deserve less time sitting in traffic and more time spent with their families.
Development should strengthen our city, not overwhelm existing neighbourhoods.
I support:
✅ Infrastructure-first planning
✅ Responsible growth around transit corridors
✅ Protection of established neighbourhood character
✅ Investing in roads, parks, recreation facilities, and community services alongside new development
✅ Transparent development approval processes
New growth must contribute fairly toward the services and infrastructure residents depend on.
Public safety is a fundamental responsibility of government.
I will support:
✅ Strong partnerships with York Regional Police
✅ Enhanced community safety programs
✅ Initiatives to combat auto theft and property crime
✅ Road safety measures in residential neighbourhoods
✅ Increased advocacy for resources where needed
Every resident deserves to feel safe in their home and community.
The residents who helped build Vaughan deserve to age with dignity and remain connected to their community.
I will advocate for:
✅ Expanded seniors' programs and services
✅ Improved accessibility throughout the city
✅ More housing options for seniors wishing to downsize
✅ Enhanced transit and mobility services
✅ Family-friendly recreation and community programming
A strong city supports both the next generation and those who built it.
Environmental responsibility begins with protecting residents and infrastructure.
My priorities include:
✅ Flood prevention and stormwater management
✅ Expanding Vaughan's urban tree canopy
✅ Sustainable infrastructure investments
✅ Parkland protection and enhancement
✅ Cleaner and greener public spaces
Protecting our environment means protecting our homes, neighbourhoods, and future generations.
Residents deserve an elected representative who is accessible, accountable, and responsive.
I commit to:
✅ Open communication with residents
✅ Transparent decision-making
✅ Public reporting on major initiatives
✅ Respectful engagement with all members of the community
Public office is a responsibility, not a privilege.
Together, we can build a Vaughan that remains one of the best places to live, work, raise a family, and invest in our future. A city that grows responsibly, respects taxpayers, and puts residents first.
Our community deserves a representative who listens. Too often, residents feel their concerns go unheard. I believe every voice matters and every concern deserves thoughtful consideration, respect, and action.
As your Local & Regional Councillor, I will be a strong advocate for residents by listening openly, engaging respectfully, and working collaboratively to deliver real results. I will ensure that your voice is heard at City Hall while championing responsible growth, safe neighbourhoods, and a more affordable Vaughan for current and future generations.
For a stronger voice at Council. For leadership that listens and puts residents first. Vote Mario Di Nardo for Vaughan Local & Regional Councillor.
